Church Day of Prayer and Fasting

Introduction

In response to prompts from the Lord, a day of prayer and fasting for the church has been called. This will take place from mid-day on Friday 18th July to mid-day on Saturday 19th July. From mid-day on Friday to early Saturday morning, church members are encouraged to pray and fast at home. Between 9am and 12 noon on Saturday, we'll meet at Waverley Abbey House for a time of corporate prayer and sharing before breaking our fast with a picnic in Waverley Abbey grounds.

This page provides some information and guidance for all who would like to join us.

The address of Waverley Abbey House is: Waverley Abbey House, Waverley Lane, Farnham, Surrey GU9 8EP

Guidance on Fasting

If you have any significant health concerns or take medications, do not join the fast without approval from your GP

Fast what you can fast - not everyone can fast from food for 24 hours. Fast for some of that time or fast from something other than food (e.g. television, Facebook)

If you are fasting from food:

  • Cut back on sugar before you start the fast
  • Drink plenty of water (especially important in hot weather)
  • Limit physical activity
  • If you feel unwell, break your fast
